Conquest is Developing Warning System for U.S. Coast Guard

Conquest Innovations, LLC of Poulsbo, Washington (“Conquest”) announced today that it has signed a contract with the U.S. Coast Guard for the development of a unique new hailing and warning system. Including options, the contract is for approximately $607,000 over a 26 month period of performance.

In addition to an audio public address (P.A.) capability with unprecedented clarity and range, the system will have a scaleable ability to “ratchet up” warning messages using unique audio and non-audio stimuli.

Conquest president Terry Conrad stated, “We’re thrilled to have the Coast Guard as our newest customer, and to be developing systems for safety enhancement in the marine environment. The agency chose our proposal over many others thanks to the innovative, efficient approach our staff and consultants use when turning a customer’s difficult objectives into real hardware.” Continuing, he stated “The fundamental objective of this contract and effort is to help defenders of high-value assets in protection zones clarify the intent of an approaching person or vessel. Establishing intent is key to thwarting attacks, protecting bystanders from a mistaken use of force, and preventing unnecessary disruptions of port operations.”

When Navy and Coast Guard assets are underway, at anchor or moored at pier, they are vulnerable to seemingly innocent merchant and pleasure vessel traffic. The threat by potential adversaries is exacerbated by performance limitations of current methods for the hailing, interrogation and warning off of vessels encroaching into restricted areas. Valid threats need to be stopped without harming innocent boaters or bystanders, and personnel using warning systems need to be certain that potential adversaries understands the warning.

In testing unrelated to the company’s Coast Guard work, last month two different Conquest audio announcing products were successfully deployed from a helicopter, a fixed-wing aircraft, and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
