Conquest Awarded Patent for New Loudspeaker
- Tuesday, 17 April 2012
A U.S. patent for an Air-Droppable Loudspeaker for public safety, military, and civilian dissemination of audio messages has been awarded to Conquest Innovations, LLC (Conquest). The company believes the device will prove to be a valuable tool for communicating during natural disasters, for Military Information Support Operations,Psychological Operations, and commercial marketing and advertising.
According to Terry Conrad, the company's president, "Conquest, perhaps more than any other company in our industry has been focused on new methods for delivering clear audio messages over very long distances. It is impractical and dangerous to travel into an unimproved or militarily fortified area with a public address system. With large long range audio devices, a mile or two is the maximum realistic limit for transmitting sound through the air. Now loudspeakers containing a recorded message or a radio receiver can be delivered by air-dropping into places where a manned loudspeaker is impossible to deploy. Furthermore, the recipients of these new speakers can hear the message repeatedly if desired."
The company stated that another advantage of the new technology is safety. The devices will not harm people or objects. In the delivery of leaflets, (another method for widely disseminating information), errant unopened leaflet containers have destroyed property and killed civilians and military personnel, even during recent years in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
Mr. Conrad further mentioned that the new patent's "priority date" is in December 2004, meaning the company's protection vs. any potential competitor began on that date.
